All of our courses are tailored to suit you the individual. If you check out the DSA web site you will find lots of advice on how many lessons are necessary and also what is required to pass a driving test. As a rule of thumb to pass a test in Perth we find the average time taken is 35 hours of tuition. However some have passed with a lot less and others a lot more. The important thing is to give yourself time to become a safe and responsible driver. For a guide as to how many lessons you may need click here. The traditional way to learn to drive is to do a 1 hour lesson every week until you pass your test. The main problem with this method is a lack of continuity due to 7 day gaps between lessons. This used to be supplemented by private practice with parents/friends etc. (See restrictions) However due to increasing insurance costs, and traffic, parents and friends are less likely to take you driving anymore. As a consequence of this people no longer gain the private practice they used to, therefore requiring additional training with an instructor to compensate. This system does still work and should not be dismissed if it suits your requirements. It will however probably mean you take a few more lessons. Read RoSPA (Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents) advice on lessons here. The most common system used to-day is to either do a longer lesson to give time for consolidation of learning or take 2 lessons or more per week, reducing the gap between lessons and helping you to remember more of the previous lesson. (Our lesson times are anything from 1 hour upwards in 1/2 hour increments.) We also provide a detailed workbook with specific subjects, (e.g. Roundabouts) which also helps to reinforce learning. The workbook contains information and diagrams on each subject with a few questions for you to answer to help test your knowledge. Subject to availability we also provide a semi-intensive solution. This is when you do a lot of lessons over say 2-3 weeks and perhaps several a-day depending on your ability. Contact for details. For Available Courses.
